Magazine: Final draft

Our magazine was based on the famous magazines 'Empire' & 'Total Film'. The magazines purpose is to reach out to a wider audience. We used the typical codes and conventions to do this.

Filming day 7

Today was our last filming day. We managed to finish everything that was needed to do. Today's filming day may have been the most important, because the scene that was filmed today will be the scene that sets the tone and atmosphere in our trailer. The filming took place at Angelia's house, we filmed a scene of a phone conversation between me and sekander.

Soundtrack

During group discussions we had discussed how much we liked the film trailer 'The last house on the left', what stood out in particular in this trailer was the soundtrack. We thought that the use of sound went well with the codes and conventions of a horror trailer and we'd try and do something similar. We chose to use this song, from my friend band 'Slowyear'.

Editing

The editing process was the most difficult part of making the trailer. At first we had an idea, but we scratched it as we thought it wasn't good enough. When we decided to re-do the trailer, we started off by putting our shots in to places we thought would work. After this we had to decide on what sound would be appropriate for our trailer. My friends band showed me one of their songs and I thought that it would fit in really well with our trailer so we decided to use the song 'doors'. After this we had to work on sound effects and titling. After we'd completed most of our editing we thought about the use of after affects and decided to make a shattering title. We also divided the labour between each other, if our trailer needed sound editing we let the person who was best do that whilst the other group members focussed on something else, e.g the film poster or magazine.

This is a screen grab of our final trailer, in iMovie.
